Overview
This position supports the Regional Membership Officer team, responsible for supporting Rotary leaders and members as they work to strengthen membership and enhancing the participant experience at Rotary International. Within a defined geographic territory, Regional Membership Officers work to identify and promote member attraction and engagement strategies, provide counsel, helps train and manage zone, district and club level membership development volunteers, and provide clubs with innovative ideas and resources to encourage club flexibility, foster Rotarian engagement, improve membership diversity and strengthen the clubs. The regional membership officer will support zones 23B and 25A, which is the following region: Brazil.
In this position, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with membership development volunteers and other senior Rotary leaders as you work to support regional membership efforts and goals. Your contribution will help support major elements of Rotary’s Strategic Plan: enhance participant engagement and expand our reach.
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred;
- A minimum of five years of experience in member associations, development or a related field (i.e., sales/marketing, public relations, non-profit management);
- Prior volunteer management Rotary experience, or familiarity with CRM systems strongly preferred;
- Familiarity with personal computers and database applications required, including advanced experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook);
- Strong inter-personal skills and a professional demeanor;
- Strong commitment to customer service;
- Proven ability in oral and written communications;
- Ability to interact with high-level business leaders and volunteers;
- Strong presentation skills, including public speaking, facilitation, training and promotional writing;

- Establish strong working relationships with directors in your specified zones to determine membership projects or programs you can help support or manage (based on your background, expertise, or interest);
- Work with Rotary coordinators to plan and implement regional membership strategies, manage bi-monthly zone team conference calls, distribute monthly membership reports and other periodic updates to zone and district leaders.
- Maintain frequent communications with zone, district and club leadership;
- Provide timely responses to Rotary senior leaders concerning membership-related questions and requests;
- Facilitate bi-monthly zone team conference calls, presenting membership information if necessary or requested;
- Regionalize and send monthly regional membership officer membership update emails.
- Prepare, analyze and disseminate membership progress reports to volunteer leadership to help monitor and manage activities within assigned territory;
- Provide support and assistance to directors, Rotary coordinators, district governors, and district membership chairs regarding membership report queries;
- Stay informed of overall membership trends in assigned region (net membership, retention rates, new members, % of younger professional and women members, etc.).
- Support district leadership in establishing new clubs in new markets;
- Support districts in conducting club assessments, member satisfaction surveys, focus groups, or other research to assess member engagement and retention;
- Help plan and organize prospective member components at district and zone events;
- Assist districts and clubs in utilization of Membership Leads program and best practices in connecting prospective, relocated, and referred members to local clubs
- Travel within assigned territory approximately 9-10 times per year (including weekends) to represent Rotary International at professional meetings and events and help promote the importance of member attraction and engagement strategies.
