The successful candidate will have the chance to be involved in the diplomatic life of the UK Mission in Brazil. The person will make a real difference to the Team at an important moment in the development of UK-Brazil and global international relations.
Requirements
- Be a student in International Relations, Political Science, Communications, Management, Law or other related disciplines;
- Have good IT skills, including Excel, PowerPoint and visual analysis products;
- Have very strong command of written and spoken English and Portuguese;
- Previous experience with research and written reports would be an advantage;
- A good understanding of Brazilian politics, multilateral organisations and the Brazilian system would be relevant;
- Interest in Multilateral organisations and the bilateral relations between Brazil and the United Kingdom;
- Competencies: self-starter, proactive, organisational sense, communication, team-working and ability to deal with tight deadlines.
Responsibilities
- Research and administrate tasks to the political team in the British Embassy, and more broadly to the Brazil Network, focused on Brazilian foreign politics;
- Occasionally attend events or conferences and write reports on them for colleagues;
- Arrange meetings, booking venues, set up events (branding, catering, etc.), coordinate mailing lists, send and follow up on invitations;
- Write briefs on local government/stakeholders, monitore local political news and Brazil positions in multilateral organisations;
- Ad hoc organisation of visits to and from the UK and Brazil, including arranging logistics around accommodation, transport, and support on briefing packs and meetings.
