The Embassy of Denmark in Brasília is seeking to recruit a pro-active, outgoing, creative and result-oriented Cultural Affairs Officer from 1 May 2018.

You will be working in a team of three persons. The main task of the team is to promote Danish culture and values in Brazil. As Cultural Affairs Officer you will be responsible for ensuring Danish participation in cultural events and coordinating cultural activities with other European Embassies in Brasília. In addition, you will be in charge of developing and implementing the Embassy’s communication and social media strategy. You are expected to show the flexibility required for an optimal handling of the entire portfolio of the Embassy and thus be ready to contribute to handling tasks outside your own portfolio.

Main tasks and responsibilities as Cultural Affairs Officer

  • Promotion of Danish and Nordic culture and values in Brazil by organizing Danish participation in festivals, exhibitions, seminars etc. together with other European Embassies and other stakeholders.
  • Implementation of Public Diplomacy activities communicating on Denmark in Brazilian media.
  • Development and daily management of the Embassy’s website and social media platform.
  • Handling of selected administrative and consular tasks in collaboration with embassy staff.

Required qualifications  

  • Minimum bachelor degree.
  • Experience from working with cultural affairs, social media and communication.
  • Good knowledge of Danish culture, traditions and values.
  • Excellent spoken and written Danish or other Scandinavian language, Portuguese and English.
  • Solid IT skills (Microsoft Office).
  • A pro-active, open-minded, creative approach to handling of tasks.
  • Flexible and able to adapt to the changing needs of the Embassy.
  • A high sense of responsibility.

Desired qualifications

  • Knowledge of Brazilian culture, traditions and values is not a requirement but will be considered an advantage.

Employment conditions

  • You will be offered full time permanent employment on a local contract based on the legally binding labour market rules of Brazil.
  • Your standard working hours will be 35 hours per week with a degree of flexibility in organizing your own daily working hours.
  • You will be entitled to 22 days of paid holiday per year.
  • Your salary will reflect your qualifications, relevant experience and proven work-related results.
