A Organização Internacional para as Migrações (OIM) é a principal organização intergovernamental mundial líder em migrações.

SOBRE O CARGO:

Due to on-going political and socio-economic developments in Venezuela, many
Venezuelans are leaving their country for Brazil.
According to the latest statistics from the Federal Police, there is an average of 500
Venezuelans entering Brazil per day requiring asylum or residency permit, many of whom
arrive in desperate conditions and in urgent need of humanitarian assistance, such as food,
shelter, transportation, health and protection.
IOM, together with other UN Agencies, and local and federal governments, has been
promoting a better governance of the Venezuelan migration influx, supporting the most
vulnerable asylum seekers and migrants by promoting their access to basic rights, and
giving direct support and capacity building to local agents, as well as articulating actions
and activities with the civil society.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Supervise IOM activities related to indigenous from Venezuela in Roraima state;

2. Assist and inform about the procedures for direct assistance and protection of indigenous from Venezuela in collaboration and as per Brazilian authorities and partners agencies, especially on documentation, durable solutions, socioeconomic integration and culture and patrimony preservation;

3. Assist civil society, local government and other authorities in providing care and
guidance to the indigenous population from Venezuela and access to public
services, as well as providing direct protection related assistance when necessary;

4. Provide support in the regular collection, analysis and systematization of data and
for the development of field and donor reports;

5. Maintain a close working relationship with other UN agencies in local missions,
project implementation and integrated activities, when requested;

6. Be accountable and work in coordination with IOM Field Coordinator in Boa Vista.

7. Follow up on the work plans and other actions implemented by the Field Office and
the IOM Brazil National Office.

8. Provide regular briefings on progress against implementation of protection
activities to the Field Coordinator and Head of Sub-Office. Perform such other
duties as may be assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Education:

– University degree International Development, Law, Social Sciences, Humanitarian Assistance or a related field from an accredited academic institution.
– Master degree in International Development, Law, Social Sciences, Humanitarian Assistance or a related field from an accredited academic institution. Alternatively, 5 years of work experience in the above fields.

Experience:

– Experience in migrants and refugees protection, human rights, indigenous rights
international law community development, field work;
– Experience in working with Brazilian Government agencies in the areas of migration, human rights, indigenous rights and/or social support advantageous;
– Experience in Humanitarian Protection would be an asset

LANGUAGES:

Required (specify the required knowledge): Spanish

Advantageous: Portuguese, English
