APM Terminals Poti (Poti Sea Port Corporation) is a business unit within APM Terminals with global headquarter in The Hague, Netherlands – an independent company in the A.P. Møller – Mærsk Transport & Logistics division – operates one of the world’s most comprehensive port and integrated inland service networks and continues investing in new business opportunities as well as upgrading current facilities.

We are Georgia’s biggest multi-purpose port, handling amongst others dry and liquid bulk, ferries as well as containers, and also has the responsibility for all related marine services. We serve the Georgian market as well as Azerbaijan, Armenia and the wider Central Asian market.

Currently we are building the team for the expansion of Poti Sea Port and looking for successful candidates for the position of Project Controls Engineer. The scope of the project entails design, civil works (marine and yard facilities), equipment deliveries (a/o STSs and RTGs), associated IT components, operational start-up and integration into the local running APM Terminals business (Poti Sea Port Corporation).

Key responsibilities

The objective of this position is to set-up and maintain all project control systems, tools and reports to understand at all times the past, current and future status of the project. Project controls give transparent insight in the project’s status for the project team to drive and for the head office to oversee.

General outline of key responsibilities:

  • Implement, maintain and drive the transparent application of the APMT project management and control tools by the project team and its consultants, contractors and suppliers.
  • Obtain and maintain scope, schedule and budget baselines.
  • Facilitate:
  • the correct application of the change management processes (changes to scope, schedule and budget),
  • the risk management process and ensure timely input from the project team,
  • the document management process, and
  • the correspondence registration system.
  • Ensure correct and timely reporting:
  • within the project and team,
  • to the Project Manager terminal Managing Director,
  • to the corporate Project Execution team, and
  • to other corporate counterparts (as required).
  • Act as primary point of contact for all project control systems.
  • Liaise with the corporate counterpart on project control system issues and improvements
  • Implement APMT project controls / project procedures to manage the construction and delivery of equipment and project IT in a forward-looking manner.
  • Track project progress against the approved baselines and, where appropriate, ensure issues are pro-actively addressed, resolved and/or escalated and reported.
  • Ensure clear and consistent reporting within and from the project team.
  • Regularly meet with the construction, equipment and IT teams to maintain awareness of (potential) project control issues.
  • Build working relations with counterparts at the head office, consultants, contractors and suppliers.
  • Work closely with the project team to maintain consistent and accurate project controls.
  • Liaise with the APM Terminals corporate Project Execution department to ensure consistency with company standards.

We are looking for

A successful candidate should have the following skills and experience:

  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience on construction projects
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a project controls related role (i.e. scheduling, risk management, cost, change management, etc)
  • Scheduling software (Primavera, MS Project)
  • MS Office suite
  • Relevant experience with project controls and/or project management softwares
  • Team player
  • Strong planning skills and high analytical capability
  • Have a strong understanding of procedures, processes and project controls
  • Good communication skills, where excellent level of English is a must, and Georgian is a preference
  • Comfortable in challenging colleagues at all levels within the organisation
  • Driven, result orientated
  • High discipline – following through on actions and ensuring necessary documentation
  • High quality awareness and ability to work with constant care
  • Sensitive to cultural diversity and experience in a multicultural environment, in regard to employees, local authorities and other stakeholders
