Org. Setting and Reporting
The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) is the agency for Human Settlements. It is mandated by the UN General Assembly to promote socially and environmentally sustainable towns and cities with the goal of providing adequate shelter for all. The posts are located in the Regional Office for Africa (ROAf) in Maputo, Mozambique.

Over the next 20 years, 95% of global urban growth will occur in developing and emerging countries, dramatically increasing the concentration of people and assets exposed to climate risks. Proactive and preventive actions are critical to minimize and better manage future risks. In view of this, UN-Habitat has been engaged in several initiatives to increase resilience to climate and disaster risk in Cities, through development of tools and projects to strengthen resilience in cities and communities. The Urban Resilience Projects consist in coordinated and strategic actions to improve City´s ability to prepare for, respond to, and adapt to a changing climate, natural hazards as well as to withstand and rapidly recover from diverse shocks such as economic and social. In 2013 UN-Habitat established the Sub-regional Technical Center for Disaster Risk Management, Sustainability and Urban Resilience (DiMSUR), where four countries are part of in Sub-Saharan Africa: Madagascar, Malawi, Mozambique and Union of Comoros. The Center recently hosted by the Mozambican Government. Within the scope of this Center many projects aiming at Strengthening Resilience in Cities in Sub-Saharan Africa are being implementing and funds mobilized. Furthermore, DiMSUR developed it´s flagship product in 2015, the City Resilience Action Plan (CityRAP) Tool which has been implemented in several cities in Africa.
