Bloomberg is the world’s primary distributor of financial data and a top news provider of the 21st century. A global information and technology company, we use our dynamic network of data, ideas and analysis to solve difficult problems every day. Our customers around the world rely on us to deliver accurate, real-time business and market information that helps them make important financial decisions. At Bloomberg, we are guided by four core values that are the foundation of our continued success: innovation, collaboration, customer service and doing the right thing. We harness the power of data and technology to organize, understand and improve our world.

From Amazon fires and street protests to toppled governments and international bailouts, there’s never a dull day in Latin America — a region prone to wild swings in politics, economics and financial markets.

Bloomberg’s Economy-Government team is looking for an experienced editor with a deep understanding of Latin America and the ability to help deliver stories that look at politics and economics through the prism of business and investment. The ideal candidate would bring our reporting to life for an international audience, be able to publish headlines and scoops with speed and accuracy and also take on longer-term analysis and enterprise projects.

An understanding of Portuguese and Spanish is essential for the job, which often entails taking the lead in writing a story that’s been reported in the local language. You will be keen on experimenting new formats of storytelling, while collaborating with a large number of platforms including Bloomberg Businessweek, Bloomberg.com, social media and our podcasts.

You’ll be based in Brasilia, Rio de Janeiro or Sao Paulo, joining a team of reporters and editors spread across some 10 Latin American countries.

You’ll need to have:

    • Have experience working in Latin America
    • Know that speed is essential in a competitive wire-service atmosphere
    • Know how to work closely with reporters and collaborate with other teams to achieve the best result
    • Be comfortable in a collaborative, dynamic, fast-moving newsroom where news can break at any time, including nights and weekends
    • Fluency in English, Portuguese and Spanish

Apply if you think we’re a good match. We’ll get in touch to let you know what the next steps are. *Resumes must be in English in order to be considered.
