Political

Main purpose of job:

Provide administrative   support to the Political and Chancery teams at the British Consulate-General   in Rio de Janeiro.

Roles and responsibilities:

Provide research and administrative support to the Political and Chancery Teams in   the Brazil Network. Occasionally attend events or conferences and write reports on them for colleagues.

•           Provide support for projects and   events. Responsibilities include arranging meetings, booking venues, setting   up events (branding, catering, etc.), coordinating mailing lists, sending and   following up on invitations, etc.

•           Provide support for policy   monitoring. Responsibilities include writing briefs on local   government/stakeholders, monitoring local political news.

•           Assist in the organisation of   visits to and from the UK and Brazil, including arranging accommodation,   transport, briefing packs and meetings.

Essential   on arrival: Have an ongoing education degree – 2nd or 3rd year student in Administration,   International Relations, Communications, Political Science or other related   disciplines and have good IT skills. He/she should possess an excellent command of written and spoken   English and Portuguese with strong organisational, communication, proactiveness, customer service, and   team-working skills.

He/she should   be interested in the bilateral relations between Brazil and the United   Kingdom.

 

  • Previous   experience in working for a diplomatic mission is an advantage.

  • The job holder will need to be flexible in their approach to hours worked as these will be dictated by operational needs and may involve working out of hours.

  • We will consider candidates able to work from one of our diplomatic posts in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Brasília, Belo Horizonte or Recife.

  • It is desirable the successful candidate studies during the evening.
