Role overview

Brazil has a substantial higher education and research sector, with over 8 million students at under-graduate level, and 220,000 at post-graduate level. It is developing an “internationalisation at home” agenda, which will encourage top-level universities to deepen their international engagement, including the internationalisation of their curricula, the ability to converse effectively in English and other global languages, and development of their international strategies and partnerships with other countries. There is also a large demand from professionals and students keen to enhance their educational qualifications and improve their prospects in the job market. Overall, there is a growing demand for higher quality in education, both directly paid for and within the state education system.

We are looking for a qualified and enthusiastic candidate to manage the delivery of Higher Education and Science projects at the British Council in Brazil, supporting the operational and strategic objectives of the organisation; and to provide general management support to the Senior Manager for Higher Education, ensuring that requirements of the Newton Fund and targets of the British Council are met in Brazil.

This is a locally engaged post. Right to work in Brazil is an essential requirement. Applications must be presented in English.
