The Delegation of the European Union to Brazil invites Brazilian and European students to apply for traineeships for the 2nd semester of 2018. These are unpaid compulsory traineeships for a period of minimum 3 months and maximum 6 months.

The traineeships are addressed to young university students with a genuine interest in the work of the European Union and especially the relations between the EU and Brazil. At the end of the internship, the student will have gained a substantial insight into the European Union´s objectives in Brazil.

The programme is open to:

Brazilian and European nationals enrolled in a Brazilian university that includes a compulsory internship as part of their studies.

The aim is to provide the interns with work experience in the different sections of the Delegation:

1. Political, Press and Communication

2. Trade

3. Cooperation

4. Foreign Policy Instruments

5. Science, Technology and Innovation

6. Information Society and Digital Market

 

Please note that:

The traineeship is unpaid and no travel or subsistence allowance is granted;
The trainee must have adequate sickness and accident insurance;
The traineeship is for Brazilian citizens, nationals from the EU Member States or pre-accession States;
The traineeship is for students enrolled in the 3rd, 4th or 5th University year;
The traineeship program is for students undertaking a compulsory traineeship within the framework of their studies;
The traineeship is for students who are already residing in the host country;
The trainee must have no professional experience and no previous experience of more than six weeks in the EU Institutions.
It is requested that the trainee provides a letter of recommendation from the educational establishment they are attending, attesting they are enrolled in a program with a mandatory traineeship.

Interested candidates should apply by submitting the following documents electronically to DELEGATION-BRAZIL-TRAINEESHIP@EEAS.EUROPA.EU – in either Microsoft Word (.doc) or Acrobat (.pdf) format – and the email address of the section the candidate is applying to (see above):

Copy of CV;
Motivation letter;
University letter requesting a compulsory traineeship;
Language certificates;
Medical certificate stating that s/he is fit for work ( a certificate written by a general practitioner is sufficient);
Copy of ID card and for foreign students in Brazil, a copy of their passport and visa covering the period of their studies in Brazil and the period of the traineeship.

Traineeship agreement:

A traineeship agreement will be signed by the trainee, the sending university/ institution and his/her supervisor at the EU Delegation before the start date of the traineeship. The trainee will have to declare that there is no real or potential conflict of interest.
All the documents required (such as CV, copy of diploma, language certificates, extract from the “judicial records”, recommendation letter, traineeship agreement, proof of medical certificate stating that he/she is fit for work, Passport/ID and proof of financing (if financed by other institution) must be received and approved before the signature of the traineeship agreement.

Selection process:

Applications will be screened and pre-selected candidates contacted for an interview.
The EU Delegation organises all its selection process in a fair, transparent and non-discriminatory way.
The traineeship will be offered to the successful candidate after having gone through the selection process and prior approval from Headquarters.

Receipt of applications will be acknowledged, but we regret that due to the volume of applications, only those applications short-listed will be contacted. If candidates do not hear from the EU Delegation four weeks after the deadline, they can consider they have not been selected.

Please make sure that the application form is completed correctly. Applications that do not meet the eligibility criteria or are incorrect will be rejected.
