Efetivo – Shipment Assistant – US Department of State – São Paulo, SP

Duties:

Under the supervision of the Shipping Supervisor, employee manages importation of Household Effects (HHE), Privately Owned Vehicles (POV), and Unaccompanied Air Baggage (UAB) from the United States and other posts around the world to Sao Paulo. Employee also oversees the importation of diplomatic shipments and containers destined for Consulate General Sao Paulo or the Mission Brazil Consolidated Warehouse which is housed in Sao Paulo.

Qualifications and Evaluations:

Experience:

Prior work experience in customer service and/or airport/airline/transportation logistics required.

Job Knowlegde:

Excellent working knowledge of Brazilian Government laws, norms, and regulations regarding imports, shipping, and customs clearance processes, including exemptions and relevant portions of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.

Education Requirements:

• Mandatory: Completion of secondary school is required.
• Evaluations: LANGUAGE: (This may be tested)
• Good Working Knowledge reading/speaking/writing in English is required.
• Good Working Knowledge reading/speaking/writing in Portuguese is required.

Skills and Abilities: (This may be tested)

Ability to establish and maintain working professional relations with all levels of customers and professional contacts, including VIPs, Mission personnel, Brazilian government officials, and customs contacts at the airport. Ability to take initiative, resolve legal and bureaucratic matters employing effective communication, judgment, and interpersonal skills. Plans and organizes work effectively while paying attention to details and providing quality customer service. Ability to work in a team environment. Must have a valid Class B Brazilian driver’s license and intermediate skills in the Microsoft Office suite.
