Job Description

The Commercial Advisor – Power Market is responsible for Contract Management Activities related to commodity purchase/sale transactions to ensure that transactions are documented by fit for purpose contracts in accordance with Brazil Power Market practice, whilst maintaining a Compliance and Controls framework.

Commercial Advisor activities include: Providing Pre-Deal Advice to Commercial Origination and Trading; Drafting and Negotiating Purchase/Sale Agreements and other Related Contracts, Management of Contract Databases/Systems, Contract Record Retention Activities, as well as other related duties.

Commercial Advisor daily tasks include reviewing and drafting power purchase and sale contracts, consulting with Commercial Originators and Traders to provide pre-deal advice regarding contracting requirements, and identifying financial, operational and other risks associated with power purchase and sale contracts. The Commercial Advisor works in collaboration with Originators, Traders, Credit, Legal, Compliance and other Shell functions as needed during the contract negotiation process to timely complete contracts between Shell Energy Brazil and third parties.

An ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive knowledge of the Brazil Energy Markets and be skilled in the negotiation of contracts for the purchase and sale of power and related energy products.

Requirements

➜ Fluency in Portuguese and English;
➜ A degree in Business, Law or equivalent practical experience is required.
➜ Knowledge or previous training of power industry (CCEE, ONS or ANEEL) operations and its rules;
➜ Knowledge of the Brazilian power market, including CCEE operations and regulations;
➜ Experience in contract analysis and negotiation related to the marketing of power and related products in the Brazilian power market. Additional experience in other commodities commonly used in the Brazilian energy market would be an asset;
➜ Demonstrated mature judgment and ability to ensure contracts and procedures are compliant with company policies, even when pressured to meet internal commercial targets and customer demands.
➜ Ability to work under pressure with a sense of urgency to meet tight deadlines, whilst maintaining a professional manner and attitude.
➜ Excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as strong reading comprehension and analytical skills.
➜ Demonstrated excellence in attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
➜ Self-motivated and capable of working autonomously.
➜ Proven ability to select the best course of action from multiple, defined options.
➜ Proven ability to exercise judgment and make recommendations based on analysis and subject-matter expertise.
➜ Demonstrated enthusiasm and commitment to a team-based working environment to enhance customer satisfaction and building positive customer relationships.
